1. Maternity pants are amazing. I don't know why some women will wear their regular pants with rubber bands for so long. They are fantastically comfortable . . . I'm still wearing them, although they don't have a big belly to hold them up anymore.
2. Be careful about what you look up on the internet. It is so easy to scare yourself into thinking that you could lose the baby any day, that every weird pain or sensation you feel must mean there is something wrong, etc. With that said, don't let nurses and doctors scare you with information that they provide.
3. Take pregnancy pictures. We started taking pictures weekly in the beginning, but stopped because I thought there was no progress. Fast forward to June 3, and I have 4 pregnancy pictures of myself. Maybe I'll be better with the next one.
4. I definitely took breathing through my nose at night for granted. With all the increased blood flow involved with pregnancy, I constantly felt like I had a sinus infection.
5. Heart burn is crappy. Peanut butter and cinnamon were my worst triggers. The last month of being pregnant, I would wake up in the middle of the night with an attack. I would take 2 tums with a glass of milk and then head back to bed.
6. During pregnancy, everything you feel, think, or act seems completely rational at the time. But it really isn't.
7. Morning sickness is no fun either. I only threw up twice, but most of the time I was just really nauseous. The only thing that would relieve the nausea was eating, but nothing ever sounded good. That's why I ate cereal for 2 months straight. And also why the smell of Pizza Pie Cafe still doesn't sit very well with me.
8. Enjoy sleeping before you have the baby. Not that sleeping was incredibly amazing toward the end. With getting up a couple times a night with heartburn or bathroom breaks . . . combined with being uncomfortable. I at least had some control over when I could sleep.
9. It is kind of freaky to watch the baby move inside of you. Even more weird, is when the baby has hiccups. Sometimes the baby's movement would be so strong that Richard could feel it a couple feet away at night.
10. Stretch marks. Yeah, don't know how those can really be avoided unless you have excellent genetics.
There are probably more thoughts that I could post, but these are the ones that stood out to me while writing this. Enjoy a few pictures of ultrasounds and pregnancy!
This was new year's eve, so 3 1/2 months pregnant (yes I thought I looked really pregnant here)
5 months pregnant
I think around 6 months pregnant
30 weeks, so just shy of 7 months pregnant
No this isn't a pregnancy photo, but Richard and I took a little local vacation to Ogden back in April. He fell asleep within an hour of getting to the hotel. Poor boy.
Just over 7 months pregnant
Yes, I stole this photo from Facebook from Richard's aunt Lisa. This was the day before my water broke and we headed to the hospital. So in this photo I was 39 weeks pregnant.
This is how we announced on Facebook that we were expecting.
At the 20 week ultrasound
She was quite the mover and the ultrasound tech struggled to get good pictures (These are pictures I took with an ipod while watching the ultrasound video in slow motion, haha)
Cute little feet
One of the attempts at an anatomy shot . . . she stuck her hand right down in the way (she is her parent's child for sure!)
Just lounging (she sleeps like this frequently still)
Loves those hands up by her face
Next up, the birth story and hospital pictures
