Oregon/Washington Trip Part I

Well, it was really only spring break for Richard, but luckily I was able to get a week off from work and take a much needed vacation.  We took a trip up to Richard's mission (Kennewick Washington Mission) and visit the people there and then go down to southern Oregon to visit Richard's aunt and uncle and their kids before heading back home.  Here's our trip in picture form :)

Yes, we do use technology . . . lots of it at the same time

The Brigham City Utah Temple nearing completion (or so it seems)

Finally!  A state border!

Maybe we didn't want to drive through Idaho

Remember how I went here last year with Richard?  This is where we talked about getting married :)

Random rock formations or lava flows?  Richard wanted the picture, not me.

Another state border!  And my first time to Oregon!

Doesn't look much different from Idaho or northern Utah

Trying to get a picture of Richard, haha!

Yeah, we're pretty awesome

And some trees

No more trees, just lots of farmland approaching Pendleton, Oregon

The blue bridge in Kennewick, Washinton

Pasco, Washington where I told Richard I wasn't leaving Wal-Mart until I had something that said Pasco on it.  True story.

Color clash?

The cable bridge in Kennewick

Columbia River Temple

Guy selling cigarettes, while smoking.  Real talent.

McNary Dam in Hermiston (or nearby)

These fish couldn't make it out

Man-made tree forest

A windmill.  We saw so many, I couldn't even count.

Another bridge.

A dam

Entering the Columbia River Gorge

The wind was so strong that there were big waves on the river

Stonehenge?

Military Monument

Take 1 (yikes)

Take 2 (much better)

Another dam

Mansion museum (I remember the story, but not the name of the place)

Yes, we were cold

Another dam

We had reserved a tent site at a KOA in Cascade Locks, but didn't plan on it raining for 24 hours before.  Here's the note the managers left us when we got there that night.  We were definitely pitiable . . . we even got a discount on a cabin.

Our cozy cabin

The inside, where I left my phone on a bed post and wasn't aware of it until we were almost in Medford, Oregon.  That's something like 6 hours away.  Needless to say, I was without my phone for nearly 2 weeks and I survived.  Richard might say differently though.

What we woke up to the next morning

Scary gas prices.  I'm sure we'll be there soon.

Sturgeon ponds

Herman the Sturgeon

Really fat trout

Richard with Herman

Wow, Rich, wow.

Horsetail falls

Multnomah Falls

Sooo big

Richard enjoying himself

Me being freezing and miserable

Perhaps a little bit happier here

Yes, I was dying here and we so many more to go

Yep, we encountered snow at the top

Looking down the falls

Getting ready to go back down
